The Code

When we think of Italian food, it is difficult not to think of tomatoes,
especially in spaghetti sauce, lasagna, etc. But the tomato is native to the Americas, not Italy. Italian food was tomato-less until many years after Christopher Columbus. Someone saw a possibility while someone else no doubt grumbled, “That’s not how we do it here.” Even where tradition is prized, a wise leader actively seeks to establish a workplace culture where new ideas are welcome.
